Notes and psalm 137/ipa

Hello friends!

Thanks for a great rehearsal last week. You are making great progress.

As I mentioned, I hope you will spend time studying the Credo before next rehearsal.

I would also like for you to spend a little time with Palestrina (O Domine, Sicut Cervus and part two of Sicut – the Sitivit Anima, which is less often performed but also beautiful). The Palestrina will be a nice way to fill out our program if we can manage.

Illuminare, in your folder and attached to this email is a reformatted version of Ps 137. The goal was to give you more space to write in helpful pronunciations. I do warn you that I may have made a typo or two with the Polish, so when in doubt, go with the original version I sent.

I am also attaching an IPA pronunciation guide if helpful. IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) is a one-to-one letter system for linguists and singers to accurately learn languages with which they are less familiar. Each symbol gets a sound. A guide to the sounds (with recordings) is available on the guide (you can click it and hear examples). If not helpful, please simply use a system that is best for you.

We have a graphic to share for the concert, and I also invite interested parties to send me recordings of portions of the Domus Mea & Benedictus. I will send the graphic and instructions for solo submissions before the weekend!
